Southern Africa Anti-Corruption Collective Action Forum 2023

31 May 2023 in Johannesburg, South Africa

The aim of the first ever Southern Africa Anti-Corruption Collective Action Forum was to help build a regional community of practice to strengthen business integrity and the fight against corruption through Collective Action.

The agenda combined panel discussions with interactive breakout sessions to facilitate exchange amongst thought leaders on cross-cutting Collective Action themes featuring tried and tested regional initiatives as well as new and innovative approaches.

Participants had a chance to test out and exchange on regional anti-corruption tools and opportunities that were presented during the interactive breakout sessions. There were also plenty of networking breaks to get to know the speakers and other participants throughout the day.

The Basel Institute organised the forum in collaboration with The Southern African Anti-Corruption Network (SAACoN) and The Ethics Institute. It brought together participants from the private sector, public sector, civil society and academia.

The Forum also included the Collective Action Outstanding Achievement Award ceremony. This award acknowledged and celebrated regional organisations and initiatives that demonstrated exceptional outcomes, emerging best practices and innovative strategies to tackle corruption and improve business integrity.

This regional gathering of anti-corruption leaders built on the success of the International Collective Action Conference series hosted by the Basel Institute on Governance in Switzerland between 2014–2022.

With the support of the Siemens Integrity Initiative.
